4:19 pm - It lives
What's this? Snut, updating his journal?

And what for, you may well be wondering, having collected your wits and jaw from where they fell about you upon viewing the wonderment of an update. Surely exciting news, mayhap some great illumination or epiphany is to spill pearl-like from this entry? Tidings of import and excitement? Holidays for all, and beer a penny a pint?

No.

This. )

An update? An update? Certainly not. This is, as I'm quite sure is obvious to all those with adequately trained pineal glands, a Rhodesian Dancing Gourd. Treat it kindly.

Back in cornwall we are, after the joyous trip to Edinburgh. Said trip was varied, but in general pleasant and we did get to meet fhtagn et al in a rather nice pub, which served delicious beer, cider and food. There is little to complain about there.

As to the home range, it is hot, but the chamsters [sic] survived our absence and at least we got to see maahsheepy today and hopefully other people soon. Of course, the first plan formulated is to go to the pub tonight.

Once again, apologies to people for uninteresting gaming books. Had the proprietor of Black Lion kept sensible saturday hours, more unusual things would have been purchased. Grr, and stuff.

3:14 pm - Orders are orders.
I've been ordered to update my LiveJournal with... something.

I'm at work, so choices are limited. D&D tonight, so here's a metamagic feat I've been thinking about:

Wild Spell [Metamagic]

Swap 3d6 from any variable spell effect for a d20. This does not change the mean roll result (10.5) but makes the
spell less reliable, as well as increasing max damage whilst decreasing min damage. This feat does not change the spell level.

As many dice can be swapped out as desired when the spell is cast (minimum one set of 3d6 if the spell has been prepared with this feat).

A tenth level wizard casting a wild fireball could choose between 3d20+1d6, 2d20+4d6 or 1d20+7d6 damage variations of the spell.

These all do an average of 35 points of damage.

Idea: Allow all Sorcerors to cast wild spells as standard actions if they have this feat, as it seems more in keeping with an intuitive, slightly uncontrolled method of channeling magic. Also, the metamagic abuse of Sorcerors is cruel.

Idea: Stacked with Empower, 1.5 multiplier adds dice to the pool for Wild Spell. i.e. if a 10d6 fireball is empowered to 15d6, could cast as 5d20 empowered wild fireball.
